In this series, Bobkin works with an apparently simple line style, yet he creates an intriguing universe where characters from dreams, myths, theatre, and everyday life come together. Each figure seems to represent an archetype — the dreamer, the warrior, the lovers, the fool, the performer — caught in a moment of introspection, absurdity, or transformation. They appear to emerge from the collective unconscious, like actors in a play where roles are constantly shifting. The soft, gradient backgrounds suggest the passage of time or emotional landscapes, while the figures — often with disproportionate or masked bodies — confront us with the layered nature of identity. Some bear symbols of power, others seem to float between genders, worlds, or meanings. In one work, a figure carries a plank laden with heads — masks or memories? — a metaphor for the burden of the many selves we carry within us. In another, a woman balances a cake on her head: celebration and absurdity merge into a fragile equilibrium. The Play of Selves is a playful yet profound exploration of who we are in relation to the stories we adopt and pass on. Bobkin reveals that identity is not a fixed entity, but a fluid, theatrical experience in which we continually assume — or attempt to shed — roles.
